Biology

Annual, herbaceous plant. The stem is erect, 20-50 cm high, branched in the lower part. The leaves are opposite, decusive, simple, oblong-spear, without petiole, margine are rarely toothed. The flowers are bisexual, yellow, grouped in the nodal inflorescens, in axils of leaves. Nodes form up to 30 cm long compound, spikelike inflorescens. Fruit is nut. Flowering and pollination: June-September; autogamy. Fruiting and dispersal: July-November; epizoochory. Life form: v-a Mi-Mes (Mag) T scap. (Hegi, 1964; Soo, 1968; Újvárosi, 1972)
